Xeroderma Pigmentosum

Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) light. Individuals with XP have a defect in the DNA repair mechanism that fixes damage caused by UV radiation. This leads to a high risk of skin cancer, premature aging, and eye damage. People with XP must avoid sun exposure and may require frequent monitoring and treatment for skin abnormalities.
