Traveler’s diarrhea is a gastrointestinal illness commonly experienced by travelers, particularly when visiting areas with poor sanitation. It is usually caused by ingesting contaminated food or water, with common pathogens including bacteria (such as Escherichia coli), viruses, and parasites. Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and sometimes fever. Treatment involves rehydration, over-the-counter medications, and in some cases, antibiotics.
