Transfusion hemosiderosis is the accumulation of excess iron in the body due to repeated blood transfusions. This condition can lead to iron overload in organs such as the liver, heart, and endocrine glands, causing damage and dysfunction. Management includes monitoring iron levels and using chelation therapy to remove excess iron.
