SaMDs (software as a medical device)

Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) refers to software intended to be used for medical purposes without being part of a hardware medical device. SaMD can perform functions such as diagnosing, monitoring, or treating diseases. Examples include mobile health apps, digital therapeutics, and AI-based diagnostic tools. SaMDs are regulated by health authorities to ensure safety and efficacy.
