Nevi (Moles)

Nevi, commonly known as moles, are benign growths on the skin formed by clusters of melanocytes, the cells that produce pigment. Moles can vary in color, shape, and size. While most nevi are harmless, changes in their appearance or the development of new moles can be a sign of melanoma, a type of skin cancer.
