Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic condition where the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. It can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, and palpitations. Treatment may include medications, lifestyle changes, and in some cases, surgery or implanted devices.
